Facts
about Instructional Design
Instructional Design (also known as Instructional Systems Design) is the process of identifying instructional needs, designing training materials and identifying methods for training. There are several models that are followed in instructional design, the most common being the ADDIE model:
- Analysis
- Design
- Development
- Implementation
- Evaluation
Each of those steps consists of smaller sub-tasks which identify training needs, delivery and methodology appropriate for the required performance objective and audience.
Instructional Design for corporate or government organisations leans heavily on modern Adult Learning Theory for its academic underpinnings. Other academic areas of Cognitive learning theory and Behavioural Science support Instructional Design theory and practice.
