Conducting business across international borders requires the development of specific skills.  To truly be an effective negotiator operating within a global arena, it is essential to understand the countries and the cultures that you are negotiating in.  Each country and its culture is different and what may be a successful negotiating technique for one part of the world may be disastrous for another.

Without the ability to localise your negotiating skills according to the culture and country you are negotiating in, you may be at risk of losing business, either through poor working relations or adverse contract discussions.  By being adequately prepared for your international negotiations, whether it be through reviewing your language choice for negotiations or developing a greater depth of cultural understanding of your target audience, you will ensure your competitive edge.
