Cultural Awareness Training France

Hermann Rubart, Kent County Council

“I really valued meeting other colleagues from other departments and learning about other people's point of view in the context of culture.”

Why Cross Cultural Training France?  Cross cultural skills are increasingly a must for international organisations as the ability to decipher the cultural variables affecting the outcome of cross cultural business interactions is recognised as a source of competitive advantage.  When it come to doing business in France, cross cultural training can truly tip the balance of a business operation in your company’s favour, while a lack of cross cultural awareness may result in lost time, added cost or failed negotiations.

The uniqueness of French national and business culture, combined with the pride French business people feel for them, make understanding key French drivers and values one of the first and essential steps to building successful business relationships with French counterparts.  Whether your organisation is negotiating with a French company, employing French nationals or establishing operations within France, the ability to understand how cross cultural differences can affect business interactions and relationships within the workplace will enable you to anticipate and avoid cross cultural misunderstandings which can lead to concrete losses.

Culture’s influences on business practices and etiquette can be deep-rooted and easy to overlook or underestimate.  For example, French businesses are widely recognised as having a strong hierarchical structure so decision-making processes tend to follow a top-down pattern and consensus is valued less than – for example – in American or British organisations.  The reasons for this can be traced back to France’s unique history which saw successive monarchs residing in Paris progressively concentrate all administrative and political powers in one place.  This gradually created a society where centralisation of resources and authority has become widely accepted.  While France is no longer a monarchy, and Paris is a major centre for international business, the influence of such deep rooted elements of French culture remains, and their effect on doing business in France cannot be ignored.

Cross Cultural Training France programmes aim to increase your awareness of French business culture through developing your cross cultural skills and knowledge.  Cross Cultural Training France programmes will help you compare and contrast your own values with those of France to identify where any major differences exist.  Through group activities, self-assessments and case studies, tailored to your particular business context, Communicaid’s Cross Cultural Training France will help you to greatly reduce the risk of cross cultural misunderstandings in doing business in France.
