Living and Working in Luxembourg

Michael Harrison, Cable&Wireless

“Very satisfied, training was fun and informative and to the point"

Why Living and Working in Luxembourg? With less than half a million inhabitants, Luxembourg is one of the smallest countries in Europe and the last Grand Duchy in the World. Luxembourg has a number of cultural and linguistic influences from France and Germany, including their languages which are used widely in the country. While most Luxembourgers speak French and German, they strongly identify themselves with their Luxembourgish dialect. This constant immersion in a multilingual environment helps to explain their openness toward the rest of the world. With one the highest GDP rates in the world and an extraordinarily high standard of living, Luxembourg is an appealing location for foreign investment and international assignees.

An international assignment in Luxembourg, however, can be a challenging experience. Failure to adapt to unfamiliar cultural rules and behaviours in Luxembourg can cause frustration and misunderstanding leading to a failed assignment.  Communicaid’s Living and Working in Luxembourg courses are designed to respond to the needs of international assignees being seconded to Luxembourg by providing practical information and advice on the various aspects of living and working in Luxembourg.  Training also provides international assignees with an understanding of the underlying elements that shape Luxembourgish business and social culture inside and outside the workplace.
