Living and Working in Zambia

Julio Arquimbao, Learning Consultant, Barclays

“The real life examples and extensive knowledge of the trainer really made the session come to life"

Why Living and Working in Zambia?  Zambia’s society is characterised by tribal ties where the clan is at the centre of life.  Interaction between the different groups happens on a friendly and regular basis creating a national culture which is characterised by a unique fusion of tribal customs and traditions.  Since gaining independence from the British in 1964, Zambia’s economy has fluctuated significantly but vast reforms over the last twenty years have helped to create a solid economic foundation.   Anybody who would like to take advantage of this growing economy should be aware that an international assignment in Zambia can be a challenging experience.

Failure to understand Zambia’s complex cultural dynamics and the inability to adjust to the underlying rules and behaviour patterns of Zambian culture can cause frustration and misunderstandings.  Communicaid’s Living and Working in Zambia courses are designed to respond to the needs of international assignees by providing practical information and advice on the various aspects of living and working in Zambia.  Living and Working in Zambia programmes also convey an understanding of the underlying elements that shape Zambian business and social culture inside and outside the workplace to ensure you have a successful international assignment in Zambia.
