Catherine Devitt, OD Manager - HBOS plc

"The discussions and role-plays really brought the cultural differences to life."

Home to some of the world’s earliest civilizations, Egypt has occupied a prominent position in the Middle East for millennia as the crossroads between Europe and the Arab world. Heavily influenced by Mediterranean, African and Arab societies, Egyptian culture is a unique blend of traditional and modern attitudes and behaviours. With the largest population in the Middle East and Africa, Egypt has an ever-improving economy and social infrastructure paving the way for increased business opportunities and investment. As such, many organisations are choosing to take advantage of this growing economy and are sending employees to live and work in Egypt.

An international assignment in Egypt can be a challenging and stressful experience, however. Failure to adapt to a new set of cultural rules and behaviours can cause misunderstandings, frustration and unsuccessful assignments.

Communicaid’s Living and Working in Egypt courses are designed to respond to the needs of international assignees by providing practical information and advice on the various aspects of living and working in Egypt, as well as conveying an understanding of the underlying elements that shape Egyptian culture inside and outside the workplace.
