Pre-Deployment Training (PDT) is essential to properly prepare for duties in foreign, often hostile countries. As well as exercises to develop their physical fitness, PDT also includes training to develop organisational, leadership and decision making skills, all of which help soldiers work as a team and under pressure.

Pre-deployment training is intense. It not only reinforces and refines the skills they’ve acquired so far, but also ensures they’re fully trained in the use of any specific vehicles, technology or weapons systems they’ll be using on tour. We also prepare them to deal correctly and appropriately with the local nationals they are likely to meet.

Sample Pre-Deployment Training Exercises

Communicaid actors and staff are available to support the local nationals within PDT for Afghanistan and any other theater or potential AO, in support of any diplomatic or military mission. Exercise support includes assisting with:

  • Pashtun Horizon and Wessex Warrior
  • MSSG, MRX and MST
  • OPTAG PDT including ARB, TCC, IR, SOIR, ECA1 & ECA2
  • Others

Pre-Deployment Exercises Actors

In association with our partners, we employ 4,600 staff, including over 1,300 Afghan actors who are able to represent local Afghan villagers or members of the Afghan National Army (ANA) and Afghan National Police (ANP).  We also have plans to create a Simulated Taliban Tactical Training Team (ST4).

Communicaid only uses native born actors that are already familiar with the language and culture of the target AO.  Our actors all have the credibility and the authenticity to play not only civilian population but also insurgents and members of the local police and army forces.  Many have experience of working with weapons, vehicles and dogs.  A large number of actors are already experienced in assisting Land Warfare Centre and OPTAG with PDT and many have participated in video productions and photo shoots.

The total number of actors and staff available is 4,600+ across all of our strategic partners. This includes:

  • 1600 Afghan security personnel
  • 1400 language trainers
  • 1350 Afghan CIVPOP actors
  • 250+ cultural advisors
  • 100+ Amputee actors

Our actors and staff are able to represent the civilian population and the local security forces. For Afghanistan, this includes personnel with experience of serving within the ANA and ANP.  All of our personnel will be supplied with AO specific costumes including civilian clothes, uniforms, boots and headgear.

All our personnel can be equipped with relevant civilian clothes, bags, carpets and weapons. Communicaid actors will arrive on your exercise with all of the clothes, equipment and props specified by you.

All of our staff and actors will receive security clearances (i.e. SC or BPSS) before being allowed to participate in military exercises.  All of our staff are either British citizens or they hold UKBA authority to work in the United Kingdom.  All personnel are paid under standard PAYE and BACS payment systems with tax and National Insurance deducted at source.
