Communicaid’s Russian language courses are available seven days a week, 365 days a year. Training takes place between 08:00 and 20:00, although courses are also available outside of these hours upon request. Suitable tailored and published Russian course materials as well as online learning resources will be used throughout, with recommendations on self-study material and extra reading made at the beginning and during your Russian course. Russian is the official language of the Russian Federation and shares official status in Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. It is the first language of approximately 145 million speakers and it is estimated that a further 110 million people speak Russian as a second language, making it the eighth most widely spoken language in the world. In addition to the Russian Federation and former USSR satellite countries, significant communities of Russian speakers can be found in Israel and North America.
An East Slavic language from the Indo-European family of languages, Russian is most closely related to Ukrainian and Belarusian. In certain parts of the Ukraine and Belarus, these languages are spoken interchangeably.
Russian has been divided into three main dialect groups by linguists: North, Central and Southern. Within each, it is determined that dozens of variants of the Russian language exist within each of these groups. Standard Russian is based on the Moscow dialect.
