The program was presented well. I particularly enjoyed how we were able to share and discuss real life examples and situations which we have encountered
Cindy Carney, Cadbury SchweppesCommunicaid’s Living & Working in Nigeria courses are designed to respond to the needs of international assignees by providing practical information and advice on the various aspects of living and working in Nigeria, as well as conveying an understanding of the underlying elements that shape Nigerian culture both inside and outside the workplace.
As the most populated country on the African continent, Nigerian society and culture have been shaped by its ethnically, religiously and linguistically diverse population.
Although Nigeria had a turbulent recent past, it is now experiencing the longest period of civilian rule since its independence in 1960 leading to greater stability. This has led to significant social and economic growth and improvement in areas such as foreign investment, education, infrastructure, and politics. Today, Nigeria is a major player in the UN and OPEC and also plays a key role in African affairs and features as an active participant in Africa orientated organisations.
Living and working in Nigeria is an exciting but challenging prospect as it requires an understanding of this extremely diverse society and the rules and behaviours which permeate every aspect of Nigerian culture. Without this understanding, an international assignment in Nigeria may result in frustrations, misunderstandings and unsuccessful business endeavours.
Ensure a successful international assignment in Nigeria by learning more about Nigerian business and social culture.
